Research and Development Activities

CRdC Tecnologie is engaged in numerous project initiatives, alongside contract-based work for third parties. The research activities for projects under the PON call (D.D. MIUR n. 1/Ric. of 18/01/2010) have concluded, while those related to the High Technology Districts and related Networks Call are ongoing. The MISE-funded projects under the Made in Italy call, "BAS" and "GLOB-ID," and the MIUR structural strengthening project, NAFASSY, concluded in fiscal year 2015. Research activities for the regionally funded CAMPUS call projects have also concluded.

We have provided significant consulting services to public and private clients, including Trepack srl (for a nanostructured optical filter for solar panels), Idrotherm 2000, Officine Meccaniche Irpine, and the Department of Business and Quantitative Studies at the University of Naples “Parthenope” (for PON research projects). Collaboration with CERN in Geneva continues.

The following details the progress of the main projects involving CRdC Tecnologie Scarl and its shareholders:

Completed Projects (PON - D.D. MIUR n. 1/Ric. of 18/01/2010)

DIATEME – High-tech devices for the Biomedical sector

Code: PON01_00074 (Health and Biotechnologies)

Duration: September 2011 – December 2015

Results: Production of new flexible PVC artifacts with characteristics compatible with phthalate-based PVC, using alternative non-toxic plasticizers. Creation of an active filtering material for capturing bacteria by functionalizing PES and PEI membranes.

SAPA – Applications and recycling of new thermoplastic polyolefins

Code: PON01_01593

Duration: July 2011 – December 2014

Results (Packaging): Improved oxygen and CO2 barrier properties of polyolefin films.

Results (Automotive): All planned objectives were exceeded through new polyolefin formulations, even with the presence of nano-charges

MATECON – Functional materials for the textile and tanning sector

Code: PON01_00485

Duration: September 2011 – May 2015

Results: Produced suitcases using recycled PET and PLA as a natural material, resulting in a national patent, plus a patent for lightening a suitcase.

SCILLA-M – Innovative Light Structures, Components for Metro applications

Code: PON01_00519

Duration: March 2012 – December 2015

Results: Demonstrated that a new thermosetting resin could successfully replace those previously used, with significant savings and improved environmental compatibility.

Structural Strengthening Project (PON - D.D. MIUR n. 254/Ric. 18/05/2011)

  • NAFASSY – NAtional FAcility for Superconducting SYstems
  • Code: PONa3_00007
  • Duration: Concluded July 30, 2015
  • Objective: The realization of an infrastructure at the University of Salerno for testing superconducting power devices.

Ongoing Projects (High Technology Districts and Networks)

The following projects, funded under the PON "Research and Competitiveness" 2007-2013 call, are currently ongoing, with objectives essentially reached:

MATEMI: Materials and Process Technologies with High Efficiency for Innovative Micro-casting.

BIBIOFAR: Biomarkers, Biomaterials, and Innovative Drugs for the Diagnosis and Therapy of Cerebral Ischemia and Tumours (BIOCAM Aggregation).

Tecnologie Optoelettroniche Innovative (TOP IN SCARL): Innovative Optoelectronic Technologies for Monitoring and Diagnostics of Railway Infrastructure.

SMART GENERATION: Sustainable Systems and Technologies for Energy Generation.

Made in Italy (MISE) and FIT Start-up Projects (Completed)

B.A.S. (BIO ABSORBENT STRUCTURE): Development of innovative, low environmental impact super-absorbent structures for hygiene, health, and personal care.

GLOB-ID (GLOBAL IDENTIFICATION OF LOGISTIC IN HEART CARE PACKAGING): Focused on developing innovative packaging solutions integrated with low-cost and low-environmental impact logistics, through an ICT platform.

BIOCOMP-RB: New generation of inflatable rigid boats (RIB) made of biocomposites (BIOCOMP) using biodegradable/renewable resins and natural biodegradable/recyclable fibers.

Regional Projects (CAMPUS) (Completed)

These projects, under the P.O.R. CAMPANIA 2007/2013, concluded on December 31, 2015, with positive evaluations.

  • SIDIR: System Demand Innovation and Research in the Polymer and New Materials Sector.
  • SiHM: Control and “Health Monitoring and Management” of Complex Systems and Mixed Metal-Composite Structures.
  • RISE: Research, Innovation, and Development in the Energy Sector.

In these projects, CRdC Tecnologie, along with its partners, achieved significant results and successfully created and evaluated demonstrator prototypes.

Contract Research and Non-Subsidised Programs

In the area of non-subsidized research and programs, CRdC has become a premier scientific partner and supplier of R&D support activities. Key commissions include:

SpectraTec (US Company): Collaborated on developing systems for 3D laminating, printer development, new inks, and a Data Processing Platform (DPP) for satellite image application.

ENEA: Commissioned research on verifying the calorimetric and mechanical characteristics of nano-composites.

Electronic Systems S.P.A.: Developed new monitoring and defect detection techniques in the production of plastic laminates.

MARS (Microgravity Advanced Research and Support Center) / ASI: Collaborated on the ASI research project “Liquid bag bumper for bearings” to identify suitable materials.

Meridionale Alimenti S.r.l.: Conducted an experimental investigation on a "pilot plant" to measure the dielectric properties of food.
